Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you," "your," or "User") and Verity App LLC, a Texas Limited Liability Company ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your access to and use of the Verity mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
Overview of the Service
Verity is a mobile application that enables users to:
- Record video using their mobile device
- Stream video in real-time to cloud storage destinations owned and controlled by the user
- Maintain chain of custody through cryptographic attestation
- Preserve evidence by ensuring recordings are stored before they can be deleted from the device
What We Provide
- A mobile application for video capture and streaming
- A relay infrastructure that routes encrypted video chunks to your storage destinations
- Attestation services that create cryptographic proof of recording integrity
- Session tracking
What We Do NOT Provide
- Storage for your video recordings (you provide your own)
- Access to or control over your recordings
- Legal advice or representation
- Guarantees regarding the admissibility of recordings in legal proceedings
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.
User Responsibilities and Legal Compliance
YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE COMPLIES WITH ALL APPLICABLE LAWS AND REGULATIONS.
Recording Consent Laws
Different jurisdictions have different laws regarding recording consent:
- United States: Federal law permits recording if at least one party consents. Some states require all-party consent, including California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, and others.
- Other jurisdictions: Laws vary; you are responsible for knowing current requirements.
Key Principle: Before recording any private conversation, you must understand and comply with the recording consent laws of your jurisdiction.
Recording Law Enforcement
Recording police officers performing their duties in public is a constitutionally protected activity in the United States under the First Amendment. However, you may not physically interfere with officers performing their duties.
We provide this information for educational purposes only. This is not legal advice.
Prohibited Uses
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
- Violate any law or regulation
- Record private conversations without required consent
- Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate any person
- Record in locations where recording is prohibited
- Create recordings for blackmail, extortion, or coercion
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service
Storage Credentials and Third-Party Services
You are solely responsible for:
- Providing valid credentials for your storage destinations
- Ensuring your storage accounts remain active and accessible
- Managing storage costs charged by your storage providers
- Securing your storage credentials
- Complying with the terms of service of your storage providers
Your storage credentials are encrypted using AES-256-GCM before transmission and held only in RAM (volatile memory) during active upload sessions—never written to disk, swap files, or cache. They are deleted from memory immediately after each upload operation (milliseconds to seconds). A physical seizure of our servers would yield zero credentials.
Attestation Services
Our attestation service creates cryptographic records that can help demonstrate:
- That a recording was made at a particular time
- That video chunks were received in a particular sequence
- That video content has not been altered since the hash was computed
Limitations:
- We make no guarantees regarding admissibility in legal proceedings
- Attestation proves integrity, not truth
- You should consult with legal counsel regarding use of recordings in legal matters
Fees and Payment
The basic Service is currently provided free of charge, supported by donations. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future with advance notice.
You are responsible for costs associated with your mobile data plan and cloud storage services.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VERITY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
- Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service
Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) fifty United States Dollars ($50.00).

Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice.
